Another World

Bold prints, outrageous hair style and unique fashion sense. Those are the phrases I'd describe the culture at Newtown. Jess Fung and I went on an adventure today to explore this new world, where being unique was social norm. After walking for a while, we stopped by at Max Brenner. Although I was quite dissappointed by the cheesecake, the Chocolate with Crunchy Waffle Balls was absolutely delightful!

Between Sheets

Oh baby, anything looks better with you between them! ;D

Even sheets of paper.

 Remember the good times?

Rainbow Dreams

After spending the whole day wiping, vaccumming, and mopping, I've come to the realisation that I'm not suited for this role. Which led me to think, I need to get a maid, that or live in a hotel.

But like my new bed sheets?

Revolution

Attempting to teach my mother the mechanics of her laptop and the internet. Its more complicated than it looks- "Mum, Click on the icon with the mouse, not touch the icon with your finger! We can't afford touch screen just yet!"

Holy Basil

I've been wanting to go to Holy Basil after hearing great feed back from my friends, so when Peter Daddy told me thats where we were going for dinner last night, I was really excited! When we got there, it was packed! I was very surprised. I didn't know it was that popular. The service was great and the food was yummy too! We had green curry and laos sausages for Dinner, and fried icecream for desert. I had high expectations of the fried icecream, since Cynthia said is was to die for. And she was right! Despite deing unusally triangular shaped, (as Peter Daddy put it - "I was expecting balls!" LOL) it was absolutely delicious! Before Peter Daddy drove me home, he gave me a surprise belated Christmas present which he claimed is magical. So now I'm expecting to get HDs for all my subjects if I use my new parker in the exams!

Lost Treasures

In the process of cleaning out my room, I stumbled upon my treasure box. So instead of cleaning, I'm currently going down memory lane. These are my life's little treasures:
  • Cards, letters, post-its and doodles. After watching the short video Technology Ruins Romance by Wong Fu Productions, I have to agree. I really miss little notes and doodles. I miss hand written snail mail letters! Technology really does ruin romance! Nowadays, every time I get something from the post, I get nervous cause its probably a bill.
  • Photos. Especially film photos. Yes even the ugly and embarrassing ones that I don't have the heart to throw away.
  • Old jewellery.
  • Little gifts that were spontaneaously bought at the time, but now still have the ability to make me smile.

    Virus Attack

I do not know whether be thankful or not. Yesterday my mother purchased a laptop, so she could discover the fascinating world of the internet. However, on the same day my own baby was attacked by a virus! This happened while I was watching my lastest obsession (thank you dear cousin), the Adam Couple in MBC's We Got Married! I haven't slept properly in days because of this show! It's utterly adorable and I've grown very attached. But as soon as I've gotten so attached, the couple decides to leave the show! So now, I'm consoling myself by watching 2AM's MVs on YouTube on my mother's laptop, whilst waiting for my laptop to re-format.

    Filled with Food

Today was the first day I've been home. So many things happened this week. Since it was a jammed packed week, this is going to be a jammed pack post.
    • Try to teach my American Cousin Sophia some English. "Its colour not color"
    • Accompanied her to watch Tap Dogs.
    • Paid $99 to watch my Coyote Ugly crush get wet and not take off he's shirt. Although I wasn't as disappointed as the fan girls behind me who wouldn't stop screaming in my ear.
    • Discovered the beauty of the Capital Theatre.
    • Can successfully tell people I've been to the theatre.
    • Tried the famous chilli dog from Harry's (when I say tried, I seriously mean I had to put in effort to eat that thing. I'm infamous for my table manners, but the chilli dog just went everywhere- my shirt, the table, the floor.)
    • Gave Sophia a food tour, Chili Fish Balls and Croquette from China Town, Roti from Mamak, and a Australian Meat Pie (unlike the sweet pies she has from home)
    • Monday Lunch at Bungalow by King Street Wharf with my cousins during their lunch break.
    • Whilst the rest of my cousins went back to work, I went shopping with Sophia and my other cousin Kevin.
    • Discovered I was related to a celebrity, when my cousin Kevin was asked by two chicks to take a photo with. LOL!
    • A dumpling family feast for dinner and baby photos for desert.
    • Found out the only remaining CVR player  in my house does not work when trying to play the old family videos.
    • Tuesday 21st Birthday Dinner at Pancakes on the Rocks (at Darling Harbour LOL- you don't understand how much that amused me.)
    • Macadamia Madness Pancake <3
    • Rediscovered how incredibly loud and embarassing my work mates are.
    • Made the french waiter do a birthday dance!
    • Wednesday Dinner Date with my Wife Alysse at Bangkok and Geltatissimo for Dessert.
    • Thursday Night with Old Friends, Cynthia, Ken and one of my oldest friends of all, Wilson.
    • Killaburgers, Icecream and Waffles, Free Bubble Tea at Fairfield RSL- I could barely fit behind the wheel afterwards.
    • Embarrassed everyone when I walked up to the counter at Killaburgers and asked "Can I please get a Killaburger?"
    • Labelled the worse person to go crusing with "I SAID DON'T TURN RIGHT WHY DID YOU TURN RIGHT?!" - Wilson
    • "Someone needs to teach these girls how to eat properly!" - Ken when I stained my shirt with ice cream and Cynthia dropped her waffles everywhere.
    • Scary stories led me to almost peeing my pants when driving home by myself.
    • Spent all Friday in bed recovering from my busy week.

    Time Attack

I had the last few days off and instead of spending them in bed, my dad surprised me with 2 new waredrobes. So I've been clearing things out, moving things back in and re-discovering little treasures that I've packed away. I decided to get old photographs out of storage and display them. This is one of them:

This is my brother. 15 years ago.

He used to be so cute! (What happened? you asked.) Well time was a bitch and attacked his face.

    Silver Balloons

A new year means another round of resolutions vowed to be fulfilled however many never do. But I'm a creature of habit so here's mine- to become a Ninja. I thought if I only made one single resolution, there will be a higher probability that it'd actually happen.

And how would I do that you might ponder?
    • Raise $22, 000 (minimum)
    • Travel 10, 277km (according to Google Maps I'd have to kayak 5,404km across the Pacific Ocean, and Google Maps is never wrong)
    • 10 months of  "training"
    • Become a registered weapon (if Jackie Chan can do it, why can't I?)
This is my awkward way of saying, I'm going to be an exchange student to Kansai Gaidai University, Japan in the year 2011 for 2 semesters! I'm excited, nervous, and incredibly afraid that the Japanese won't understand my abnormal sense of humour. It would be a very awkward year if this is so.

The repetitive question I get is "Why Japan?"

Because its Love. And as any hopeless romantic can tell you, you can't explain love. But here's a little snippet: whilst the rest of the world lit the skies with fireworks for the new year, the Japanese filled their sky with silver balloons containing notes of hope for the future. And people still ask me why Japan?

Powders Her Nose with Gun Powder

Last minute NYE planning led to dinner at Mizuya with Jess Fung, and our tradition of watching the NYE fireworks together. However, there were many things that could never be planned for:
    • Making new founded enemies with the people who surrounded us.
    • Actually having a water edge view of the fireworks (compared to previous years, where my height led to me watching the fireworks through a stranger's camera)
    • $5 000 000 blew up in the sky in style.
    • Hair Allergies -  "You would think if you were allergic to hair, you would be bold"
    • Being snapped by random (seedy) strangers -  which I did not appreciate and felt very violated.
    • Full body rubs with strangers on the overly packed trains.
    • "I felt like there were ten hands on my leg, but it was actually some girl's leg hair rubbing against me" - Jess Fung
    • Discovering a new appreciation for fresh air (whilst being squished by "overgrown" men at arm pitt level)
    • "Jessica, I hope that's your phone vibrating at my err.. region" - Alex, whom I can't look in the face anymore.
Personally, 2010 was not the best year for me but I'm really looking forward to 2011! Like the NYE Theme dictates, I'm hoping to "make my mark"!
